Little Miracles
My heart is full today
I fed birds on my way to work
Saw the first spring blossom
Got hugs from my students
(even those I was sure secretly hate me because I’m a strict teacher)
I shared things
Shared my food
My knowledge
My warmth
And they shared with me too
I had a laugh with my colleagues at work
And watched my students dig up the soil in the yard in search of fossils
I felt fulfilled
I felt like I’ve done it right today
I saw people smile at street dogs
I smiled too
I had an unexpected coffee break looking at the sea and breathing
I got a kind message from a friend
Chatted with my niece on the other side of the world
I picked up my son from kindergarten and bought him a pack of gummy bears
And then I walked home with him holding the most precious little hand in the world
As he shared what he learned today
Just an ordinary day
Home-work-home
The usual routine
But it felt extraordinary
It felt special
Like every day should feel
Like every day can feel
If you notice those little miracles

I am so glad you had that day - may you have many more
A lovely paen to the miralces of the everyday. Made me think of Brecht’s poem, Pleasures.
